Lawrence N. Berwitz has been practicing law since 1980. He is a graduate of St. John’s University School of Law (1979) and earned his bachelor’s degree cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany (1973).
Mr. Berwitz is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Estate Planning Council of Nassau, Inc. and serves on various committees of the New York State, Nassau County and Queens County Bar associations dealing with trusts and estates, taxation, elder law and Surrogate’s Court practice. He is the past co-chairperson of the Nassau County Elder Law Committee at the Nassau County Bar Association and currently serves as a vice- chair of the Surrogate’s Court Estates and Trusts Committee.
He has been a guest speaker on the radio, lectured at continuing education courses for attorneys and accountants and authored articles on issues concerning estate and retirement distribution planning, asset preservation, Surrogate’s Court practice and elder law. He is admitted to practice law before all of the courts of the State of New York, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and the Second Circuit.
